THE WRAP: More Basketball Openers, Hermitage Girls to 2-0....

A healthy Destini Walker does wonders for the Hermitage Panthers.

Healed from her torn ACL suffered late last season in February, Walker and her Panthers held Mills Godwin under 30 points for a 44-27 home victory Wednesday night to advance to 2-0 on the season. The Eagles uncharacteristically fell to 0-2, having lost their 2013-14 opener to J.R. Tucker Monday night.

In the Conference 20 Girls Tip-Off Tourney, the Tigers held off Powhatan 47-38 to advance to Friday's semifinals against Midlothian. The victory was career win #250 for head coach Mollie Pawlowski.

In the Conference 20 Boys Tip-Off Tourney, both J.R. Tucker and Glen Allen advance with quarterfinal victories. Tucker defeated Powhatan 52-39 while the Jaguars defeated Dinwiddie 69-49. Tucker will play Hanover at Glen Allen Friday at 6pm, while the Jaguars will play following in the second semifinal.

Down in Hopewell, Highland Springs picked up their first victory with a 64-52 win against the host Blue Devils in the Bill Littlepage Tip-Off Tournament to improve to 1-1 on the season.

Deep Run picked up an easy victory over former Colonial District foe Maggie Walker Governors School at home by an 89-36 count. The Wildcats (1-0) next host Patrick Henry Friday at 7:30pm.
