October 4th. Earl Hughes is area’s leading rusher with Lake Taylor 1,799 yards, making all forget
about Paul Robertson from 2012, save his playoff run. Recorded five shutouts.

--Lancers’ two losses to Meadowbrook and last week to LC Bird 34-14, had 7-game winning streak in between. Defense allowed 19 points or less in all 8 wins, 20 or more in two losses. Freeman’s lone loss was 26-10 at Hermitage. Kyle Farkas has receivers, Gerstenmeier and company rushing, only team to beat Atlee, but only have two wins over playoff teams (Raiders, Godwin). Averaged 15.4 per game given up on defense, 41 of them in OT win Week 2 over
so 113 over nine games.
#5 Hermitage (8-2) at #4 Highland Springs (8-2)
--Powerhouse first round matchup. Nate Roscoe averages
170 yards rushing per game, set
single game school record in Freeman win. Began 1-2 (CF and Varina), 7-0 since,
allowing 58 points in that span, 21 of those to Tucker last week in 47-21 win.
Arguably should be 9-1 and hosting this game.
Highland Springs rebounded from Atlee loss to knock off rival Varina
45-35 Friday night. Missed playoffs last two seasons, knocked out in first
round in 2010, 2009, 2007, last playoff win was 2006 (18-7 over LC Bird in
Regional Semis). Last home playoff game
was 2007, a
21-20 loss to…Hermitage. Panthers also eliminated them in 2009, LC Bird in

#12 Glen Allen (4-6) at #5 Denbigh (7-3)— SATURDAY, Todd Stadium
--First EVER playoff game for the Jaguars, most wins in regular season in three-year history of the school. The Henrico win 11/1 kept them in the postseason. Denbigh had five-game win streak snapped in final regular season game, 44-41 vs. Woodside, #7 seed in 6A South. QB Terrence Dingle threw for
1,995 yards in regular season.
The Woodside loss cost the Patriots two spots in the 4A South standings. Winner
gets Heritage/Powhatan winner.
